Dr. May Beth Miotto discusses the history of and the aprroval process for the COVID vaccine for children ages 5-11 as well as the most current information regarding COVID-19 in children. Dr. Cynthia Samuel, and Karen Rufo, describe how the vaccination process for children is occurring in their very different communities and what strategies they are using to promote vaccination access. Robin Cogan discusses the vital role school nurses play in providing accurate, truthful health information to their students, families and communities. - Identify talking points and resources for interactions with parents/guardians about this specific vaccination, addressing vaccine questioning parents.
- Describe school nurse communications with school communities (students, parents/guardians, staff, etc) about COVID-19 vaccination for children, e.g. how messaging is delivered and what have been the responses.
- Describe school nurse involvement with (school-located) COVID-19 vaccination clinics for children, i.e. collaborations, steps needed, lessons learned so far.
