1. Identify adolescent health issues including tattooing, piercing and body modification
2. Identify health risks for adolescents who have tattoos, piercings or body modifications and appropriate treatment.
3. Identify resources for use with students and families on this topic.


Presenter:


   Dr. Laura Grubb, MD, MPH, is an Adolescent Medicine Specialist and Pediatrician at Tufts Medical Center. She was appointed to the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Adolescence in 2016 and is the Advocacy Chair for the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine. She has authored many policy statements, clinical reports, and technical reports for the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Her clinical focuses include adolescent and young adult primary care, contraception services including long-acting reversible contraception, menstrual disorders, acne management including Accutane, opioid addiction including buprenorphine/naloxone maintenance, sexually transmitted infections, high-risk behaviors including substance abuse, violence, sexual activity, school failure or truancy, and self-harming behaviors

Dr. Grubb’s research focus areas include health policy initiatives to improve the health and well-being of adolescents, prevention of teen pregnancies, effective and accurate sexuality education for adolescents, sexuality knowledge and risk behaviors of adolescents, comparing GAPS questionnaire information to interview information, and juveniles in the justice system.
