Objectives:

After taking this program, the participant will be able to
   Describe how vaping impacts student school and family life.
   Explain some current practices for supporting students seeking to reduce nicotine use.


Presenter:

Kristin graduated from Northeastern University in 1995 with a bachelor of science in nursing and started working as an oncology nurse at MGH in 1995 and is still there. She started in the Spring of 2019 with PAVe (Parents against vaping E-cigarettes) as the Massachusetts Mom advocate. She is a mom of three, 18yo boy, 16yo girl and 13yo boy. 

Sean Gallagher has an extensive administrative background, serving as Principal/Assistant Principal for the Beverly Public Schools, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for the Wilmington Public Schools and currently as Superintendent of the Newburyport Public Schools in Massachusetts.  Prior to his administrative roles, he taught at Salem High School and Lynn Alternative High School and at the elementary level in the Everett Public Schools.  He has taught science, math and health education.  He has also served as Athletic Director, Coach and Dean of Students. Early in his career, he served both as a reserve police officer and patrolman for the Salem Massachusetts police department.  His administrative leadership experiences, combined with his teaching experiences provide insight & knowledge of the challenges that our students face day to day. Sean completed pre-doctoral studies at the National Institute for School Leaders, his MS in Organizational Leadership from Endicott College, and his BS at Salem State University.  He earned his AS in Law Enforcement at Dean College.

Cathy Riccio has been in School Health for almost a decade and joined Newburyport Schools three years ago as Supervisor of Nursing and Health Services.  The Newburyport Public Schools are fortunate to have the Essential School Health Services Grant from the Department of Public Health whose goal is to enhance school health services.
