Presenter:

John Kriger MSM, LCADC, CPS. John is a nationally and internationally recognized keynote and content expert speaker, author, and consultant. He has been a frequent guest on radio and TV and is a sought-after speaker for state and national conferences. A frequent NASN conference speaker for the past six years, he provided the opening keynote speech at the 2014 NASN Conference in San Antonio, TX. As the President of Kriger Consulting, Inc., John specializes in the health services arena, speaking and consulting on Tech Dependence, Public Speaking to Improve Advocacy, and Transformational Leadership. He currently writes and speaks extensively on technology dependency and its impact on anxiety, depression, violence, and suicide. A 10 yr. faculty member at the Johnson & Johnson and Rutgers School Health Leadership Institute, he is a 25+ year faculty at the Rutgers Center for Alcohol Studies, the Rutgers University School Of Social Work Office of Continuing Education. He is also a former Visiting Professor at Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China. John is the author of, The Pond: A Small Book About Making Big Changes and Turned On & Tuned Out: A Guide to Understanding Technology Dependence. He is currently in the process of writing his third book on the impact of technology on mental health, violence, suicide and predatory behavior. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services, a Master of Science Degree in Management and is a NJ Licensed Clinical Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor, and a Nationally Certified Prevention Specialist.

 

Erin Maughan, PhD, MS, RN, PHNA-BC, FNASN, FAAN. Dr. Maughan is an associate professor in the School of Nursing at George Mason University. She has over 22 years of experience working in school health as a frontline school nurse, the state school and adolescent school nurse consultant for the Utah Department of Health, and as a school nurse researcher. As the former Director of Research at the National Association of School Nurses she co-led the development of a national uniform data set for school nurses, identification of school nurse indicators, and the creation of NASN’s Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice™. She also is the Executive Director of Center for School Health Innovation & Quality. Throughout her career, Dr Maughan has studied and provided consultation on issues related to school-age children and school nurse staffing. Dr Maughan is a Fellow in the National Academy of School Nurses and American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Maughan is certified as an advanced public health nurse; was a Johnson and Johnson School Health Fellow, and is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow alumni (2013 cohort). Her career is dedicated to children’s health, especially those living in vulnerable situations.
