Presenter:
 
Jonathan Boyar is the principal of Ecologic Entomology, a pest management consulting and technical services company in Boston, Massachusetts. He’s an associate-certified entomologist (ACE) with the Entomological Society of America and has been a pest control operator for over 40 years. Mr. Boyar is an industry consultant for pest control companies, health departments, property management companies, and affordable housing organizations. He is the contracted trainer for MassHousing, the Boston Housing Authority, MA Department of Mental Health, and dozens of other public & private entities. His company employs a staff of 28 professionals, many of whom are also certified entomologists. Mr. Boyar is qualified as an expert in cases in the Massachusetts Court system. 
 
Alicia McCarthy is a committed and enthusiastic scientist and educator at the Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI), actively engaged in researching safer chemicals for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfection applications. As the Laboratory Specialist at TURI for over seven years, she has led projects focusing on the performance testing of chemical products and devices. Her work is primarily centered on promoting and implementing safer, more sustainable cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfection practices that aim to minimize the health and environmental impacts of toxic chemicals. Alicia’s knowledge is especially valuable to those seeking safer chemical options for manufacturing, janitorial, and household purposes. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Health and two Master of Science (MS) degrees, one in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene and the other in Molecular Cellular Biotechnology. 
 
Kate Holmes, MPH is an Associate Director on the Health & Racial Equity team at HRiA. Prior to joining HRiA in 2021, Ms. Holmes worked as a Program Manager at the National Network of Public Health Institutes, mobilizing its national network of 40+ public health institutes to engage in school health initiatives, learning collaboratives, and convenings. Ms. Holmes earned her Master in Public Health in Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and her Bachelor of Science from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
 
Geraldine Medina, MPH, BA Senior Program Manager in the Health and Racial Equity Team at Health Resources in Action. She is skilled at providing TA and capacity building to community and faith-based organizations related to public health, including COVID- 19, indoor and outdoor Air Quality, asthma, and climate and health. Prior to HRiA, Geri worked in clinical research, including a Boston University (BU) study using a text-based application to address pediatric dental health disparities, and at the Framingham Heart Study. She also worked for a nonprofit that provides FMT treatments for microbiome-mediated diseases and conducts microbiome research. Geri obtained her MPH at BU School of Public Health, with a focus on Environmental Health. Through her studies, she has participated in AQ and water quality monitoring in schools in MA EJ communities, and home inspections for environmental health hazards. She serves on the board of Groundwork Somerville.
