Presenter:
Judith Styer is the Director of the Department of Health and Wellness for the Framingham Public Schools, a large culturally and economically diverse school district in Boston’s Metrowest. She supervises guidance counselors, social workers, psychologists, and evaluates 20 nurses. She coordinates a comprehensive School Health program, serves as the district’s Section 504 Coordinator and oversees the district’s Wellness Initiative. Prior to becoming director in 2007, she worked for 9 years as a public school nurse in Weston and Framingham.
Judith received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Simmons College, Boston, MA and a Bachelor of Art from Goshen College, Goshen, IN. She holds professional certification with the National Board for Certification of School Nurses. She is a Johnson & Johnson School Health Leadership Fellow and Mentor. In April 2013, she was installed as President of the Massachusetts School Nurses Organization. She is a member of NASN.
Judith’s leadership in community organizing and grant-writing has resulted in important partnerships, collaborations, and initiatives with health and social service agencies and funders both locally and statewide. She is a co-founder of the Framingham Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition and an active member of Framingham Youth Development Collaborative. She sits on the Board of Trustees of the MetroWest Medical Center.
