Judith Styer is the Director of the Department of Health and Wellness for the Framingham Public Schools, a large culturally and economically diverse school district in Boston’s Metrowest. She supervises guidance counselors, social workers, psychologists, and evaluates 20 nurses. She coordinates a comprehensive School Health program, serves as the district’s Section 504 Coordinator and oversees the district’s Wellness Initiative. Prior to becoming director in 2007, she worked for 9 years as a public school nurse in Weston and Framingham.
Judith received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Simmons College, Boston, MA and a Bachelor of Art from Goshen College, Goshen, IN. She holds professional certification with the National Board for Certification of School Nurses. She is a Johnson & Johnson School Health Leadership Fellow and Mentor. In April 2013, she was installed as President of the Massachusetts School Nurses Organization. She is a member of NASN.
Judith’s leadership in community organizing and grant-writing has resulted in important partnerships, collaborations, and initiatives with health and social service agencies and funders both locally and statewide. She is a co-founder of the Framingham Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition and an active member of Framingham Youth Development Collaborative. She sits on the Board of Trustees of the MetroWest Medical Center.Presenter Disclosure Statement:
