Town Hall on Anti-Racism in nursing, school nursing, preK-12 schools: A Call to Action
Overview:This is a recorded webinar from The Virtual Summer Academy on August 12, 2020. This anti-racism Town includes: Valeria Ramdin Ph.D., MS, APRN-BC, CNE, and Brenda Lormil, MSN, RN, FNP-C, and Executive Director of HAMA discuss racism in nursing past and present. It is a call to action for all nurses. Presentations from School Nurses regarding racism in school nursing and in K-12 schools, including personal stories from school nurses. Educators also discuss how they are identifying and changing the culture in their school to be more inclusive and aware of microaggressions. Length: 4 1/2 hours

Objectives:
After participating in this program, attendees may be able to
1. Identify important events, laws/regs/policies, cultures that have contributed to and/or ameliorated racism in nursing, school nursing, and PreK-12 schools
2. Recognize the impacts of these events, laws/regs, policies, culture on colleagues and students
3. Identify strategies to effectively address racism in schools (implicit bias, false assumption, diversity/inclusion, microaggression)
