Presenter:

Carmen Boucher, has obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Charter Oak College, is currently certified as a Community Health Worker for the State of Rhode Island, and has completed the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program (ACTCP) from the University of Missouri.  She’s employed at the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) as a Traumatic Brain Injury Coordinator. During her tenure at RIDOH, she worked in the Office of Special Health Care Needs, the Health Equity Institute, and also the Violence and Injury Prevention Program. In her role at RIDOH, she managed the internship program for the integration of people with disabilities at the Rhode Island Department of Health. She currently is the coordinator for the Rhode Island Traumatic Brain Injury Person Center-Partnership Program, and she was appointed to The Rhode Island Statewide Independent Living Council, in addition, she is a board member of the Governor’s Advisory Council for The Blind. In a previous role, she worked for the Massachusetts WIC program then transitioned to work for the Rhode Island Parent Information Network. In 2012, she made the move to working at the state level by becoming a Community Liaison for the RIDOH. She is proud of her involvement and development of the Parent Advisory Council as well as the development of the citywide Parent Advisory Council. She was a critical member during her role as a community voice for the Woonsocket School Committee, Middle School Building Committee. She held a key role with her board membership on the Parent Federation for the Diocese of Providence Catholic School, as well as her involvement on the Woonsocket Special Education Parent Advisory Council. She was appointed to the Woonsocket City Council Racist Board in July 2020 and the Woonsocket Equity Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board in March 2023.Carmen advocates for equality and justice in society and the empowerment of individuals in regard to community improvements. She empowers, educates, and guides parents and caregivers on laws and regulations that support advocacy and education and the health of their children.

Jolayemi Ahamiojie, MPH, BS. is the Injury Prevention Program Manager at the Rhode Island Department of Health. She obtained her bachelors in Sociology from Rhode Island College and master’s in public health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She currently works within the Violence and Injury Prevention Program and focuses on adverse child experiences, traumatic brain injury, falls, community violence and transportation safety. As the Injury Prevention Program Manager Jolayemi has worked to build strong partnerships with community organizations who work directly or indirectly on the programs focus areas. Over the last eight years in the Program Jolayemi has 1. co-facilitated the Rhode Island Cross Campus Learning Collaborative on Sexual Violence Prevention, 2. contracted with the Rhode Island Student Assistance Services to implement a school-based emotion regulation program for middle school students, 3. contracted with the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island to implement concussion prevention activities such as free Baseline testing for student athletes and community trainings, and 4. Collaborated with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation office of Highway Safety to increase positive transportation messages around texting while driving and impaired driving.

Olutosin Ojugbele, MD, MPH Olutosin “Tosin” Ojugbele is the medical director of community health and equity and environmental health at the Rhode Island Department of Health. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics and practices primary care in the community. Dr. Ojugbele completed her MD and an MPH in community health science at SUNY Downstate, pediatric residency at Northwell Health/Cohen Children’s Hospital as well as a post-doctoral fellowship in primary care research at Dartmouth Hitchcock. Her focus is on clinical linkages to public health, the delivery of healthcare and public health as it pertains to social justice and addressing health disparities through collaborative work.
