Presenter:
Dr. Beth Russet will share insights from her experience teaching comprehensive sex education in a rural high school for over ten years. The presentation will include specific activities, valuable resources and general tips on providing classes that are accurate, appropriate, and inclusive.
Beth spent twenty years on the rugged coast of Downeast Maine working as a school nurse, midwife and FNP. Her practice included staffing a migrant health clinic, running a small college health center and teaching community and classroom based sex education. In 2019, Beth earned a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Northeastern University where she currently directs the Adult Primary Care Program. In all of her roles, Beth centers individual agency in the context of cultural and structural influences. She encourages students and patients alike to recognize sexual health as a fundamental part of wellbeing at all ages.
