Speaker Bios
Kristin Cina is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and is also board-certified in hospice and palliative care. She is a graduate of Boston College where she obtained her BSN (2009) and MSN (2016). She is an experienced neuroscience RN and spent several years as a bedside nurse in the neuro med/surg unit and ICU at MGH. She joined the Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine as an inpatient nurse practitioner in July 2017 after completing the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship. Kristin is particularly interested in palliative care education for nurses and using innovation and technology in order to expand access to such information.
Michaela M. Rowland is an inpatient palliative care nurse practitioner at Massachusetts General Hospital. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Vermont and then went on to receive her Master’s in Nursing specializing in adult oncology from Yale University. She is a graduate of the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship and holds advanced certification in oncology and hospice and palliative care. She has a special interest in nursing education on the integration of palliative care principles in the care of patients and families facing oncology diagnoses and serious illnesses.
